About Us
Diplomatic Village Limited was founded and licensed by the Federal Government of Nigeria in 2011, to operate the first in-country duty-free shop. Officially launching in Abuja in 2023, members of the Diplomatic community (diplomatic corps, expatriates, foreign envoys and visiting diplomats) can now purchase goods Duty/VAT-free for personal use. This forms part of the trade privileges and protocols reached at the Vienna Convention on Diplomatic Relations of 1961.
Managing Director, Mr. Uche Odozor, birthed the idea in 2011, while working as an investment banker for various international financial institutions. Having visited countless duty-free shops around the world, dared to wonder what a Nigerian version would look like. And so, he worked tirelessly with his partners to bring the dream to fruition.
